Leo Popiel was born and raised in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. He graduated from Archbishop Jordan Catholic High School in 2010 and soon after, started working as a Leasehand for Precision Drilling.
Over the next 6 years, Leo worked his way up the ranks and gained valuable leadership and management skills, eventually becoming a Derrickhand. However, when the oil industry slowed down, he realized the importance of finding reliable work in an industry he was passionate about.
Leo had always known that he wanted to be an entrepreneur, and in 2016, he finally took the leap and co-founded the mobile app "What's the Deal?" with his sister, Katelin. Through his marketing efforts with What's the Deal?, Leo gained recognition and opened doors for himself and his business.
One such opportunity was representing Hiregood, a local Edmonton social enterprise that helps the city's most vulnerable by equipping them with the skills necessary to enter the formal job market and break the cycle of poverty. Leo's passion for entrepreneurship and his commitment to making a positive impact in his community led him to this opportunity, which allowed him to use his skills and experience to help others.
Leo's journey from a Leasehand to a successful entrepreneur and community advocate showcases his dedication and hard work. His story serves as an inspiration to others looking to pursue their passions and make a difference in their communities.
